1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using Markdown Editor AI (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (the "Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Service. These Terms apply to every visitor, without registration and without exception.
2. What the service is
The Service is a collection of free, browser-based tools for writing and converting Markdown, including a live editor, a table generator, PDF export, HTML conversion in both directions, cheat sheets, and tools for Discord's Markdown dialect. The tools execute in your browser. We do not host a backend that receives, stores, or processes the documents you work on.
The Service is provided free of charge. There are no accounts, subscriptions, or paid tiers, and we do not guarantee that this will always be the case.
3. Eligibility
You may use the Service if you are able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf. The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
4. Your content
You retain all rights to the text, files, and documents you enter into the Service, and to the Markdown, HTML, and PDF output generated from them. We claim no ownership or licence over your content, and you may use the output for any purpose, including commercial use.
Because processing happens locally, drafts saved by the editor are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. We cannot read, recover, or restore them. Clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching devices will remove those drafts permanently. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything important.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to create, distribute, or disguise malicious code, phishing pages, or fraudulent content;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its hosting infrastructure, or any connected system;
- interfere with the Service through automated abuse, denial-of-service attempts, or excessive request volume;
- use the Service in violation of any applicable law, export control, or third-party right;
- remove, obscure, or misrepresent attribution, or present the Service as your own product;
- submit content through the contact form that is unlawful, abusive, or intentionally misleading.
The editor can optionally render raw HTML embedded in Markdown. That option is disabled by default and the output is passed through a sanitizer, but you remain responsible for any content you choose to render, publish, or distribute.
6. Availability and changes
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may perform maintenance or deploy changes that temporarily affect behaviour. Features, tool output, and supported syntax may change as specifications and downstream platforms evolve.
7. Third-party services and links
The Service is hosted on third-party infrastructure, uses Google Analytics for optional aggregate measurement, and uses a third-party form provider to deliver messages sent through the contact page. Google Analytics and those other providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. The site also links to external documentation and platforms that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of any third-party site or service.
Markdown Editor AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc., GitHub Inc., or any other platform referenced on this site. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility.
8. Intellectual property
The Service's design, interface, documentation, and underlying code are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may use the Service as intended, but you may not copy, resell, or redistribute the site itself, or create a substantially similar service from its assets, without permission. Open-source components remain subject to their own licences.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that conversions, previews, exported files, or rendered output will be error-free, complete, or identical to the result produced by any other platform. Always verify important documents before publishing or distributing them.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes loss of drafts stored in your browser. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use the Service, which is zero, or fifty US dollars.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of any applicable law or third-party right.
12. Termination
Because the Service requires no account, you may stop using it at any time. We may restrict or block access where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service or to comply with the law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity — continue to apply.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled by the competent courts of that jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer protection right you have under the law of your country of residence.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes or as legal requirements evolve. The revised version takes effect when published on this page, and the "last updated" date above will reflect the change. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
15. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent through our contact page. For details on data handling, see the privacy policy.
